CranialSacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that is effective in supporting your central nervous system so that your body can self-correct and heal naturally.
Very soft touch and intention is used to gently release restrictions in the tissues around your cranium, spinal cord and sacral area allowing your cerebral spinal fluid to move freely, bathing and improving the function of your central nervous system.
Every day you endure stresses and strains and your body absorbs them. But your body can only handle so much tension before the tissues begin to tighten and potentially affect the brain and spinal cord; creating pain and dysfunction.
Unfortunately, this can compromise the function of your central nervous system – and the performance of nearly every other system in your body. CranialSacral Therapy releases those tensions to allow your entire body to relax and self-correct; It naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being.
Can CST Help You?
CranialSacral Therapy is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction including:
Chronic Neck,Hip and Back Pain
Stress and Tension
CST was developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
I was trained in CranialSacral Therapy and SomaticEmotional Therapy through The Upledger Institute.
Somatic Emotional Release-
Somatic Emotional Release uses and expands on the principles of CST to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of emotional trauma. If you have experienced trauma and you were unable to process the pain either physically or emotionally, you may have retained the memory of the strong emotions in specific body parts, regions or viscera.
Cells, muscles, fascia, bone, connective tissue, organs etc. are able to store the energy of specific emotions related to the remembered experienced trauma. When suppressed emotions are stored in your body it’s impossible to fully heal from the original trauma.
Is Somatic Emotional Release For You?
During a Somatic Emotional session you may re-experience the unpleasant memories and feelings (such as pain, fear, anguish, anger, resentment), of the original accident or trauma. This may happen during your treatment or within a few days following your session. The re-experiencing of the negative aspects of the original trauma is a very good sign that the treatment has released at least a part, if not all of the retained pain. It is best to concentrate on the memory and try to re-experience it to the fullest extent possible. Once this occurs then the destructive negative energy can be converted to positive constructive energy. The end results of Somatic Emotional Release therapy can be transformational and well worth the effort required to complete the process.
Normally an SER will occur when you feel comfortable and are ready for the release to occur. It doesn’t happen if someone is not ready for this type of strong emotional release. The process can also be stopped if you are in the middle of a SomaticEmotional Release and it’s too much for you.
Dr. Zevi and Dr. John Upledger worked together as researchers in the Department of Biomechanics at Michigan Sate University developing the concept of SER from 1977 to 1980.
